Ramona: Chicken, spinach and mushroom enchiladas, black beans, rice, iced tea

Jim: Chicken enchilada, soft chicken taco, pork tamale, beans, roasted corn on the cob, iced tea

Shared: chips and salsa

I am not overly fond of Mexican food, but I do enjoy this particular annual visit to La Fiesta with a large group of friends after a morning of volunteer work for 5th to 9th graders from McLennan County, Texas.

The food here is undeniably good -- consistently so. Ramona always gets the same thing, and I tried her this time. It was excellent, and instead of my usual plate, I will get hers next time.

The best Mexican food in Waco.

Ramona: Chicken, spinach and mushroom enchiladas, black beans, rice, sopapilla, iced tea

Jim: Chicken enchilada, bean burrito, soft chicken taco, rice, beans, sopapilla, iced tea

Shared: three dips and chips (queso, spinach)

Mexican food is not my favorite, but we do like La Fiesta, so it was time for us to head south of the border for a Mexican dinner. The appetizer (three dips) was great, although we substituted a second serving queso for the third dip on the menu. The chips were fresh and warm, and the platters were great! The sopapillas were a little small, but we were so stuffed it really didn't matter.
