Ramona: Grilled salmon, baked potato, Caesar salad, iced tea

Jim: Tilapia w/ mango salsa, baked potato, Caesar salad, iced tea

Shared: Frizzed onions, Lemonberry cake

We weren't sure what to expect when we decided to try out this new restaurant/lounge that's opened downtown, but after spending 6 hours at the convention center today, we thought we'd give it a try (we also had a 20% off coupon from the paper!). We had noticed Basaberu as it was being built and it looked interesting. What a disappointment! The entrees were okay but not much good can be said about the baked potatoes (it's pretty hard to mess those up, isn't it?) or the Caesar salad (nothing special there either). The frizzed onions looked and tasted like something you could get out of a can -- the kind you sprinkle over the top of your green bean casserole. The cake was okay.

Service was less than ideal. I imagine the place might be popular with the younger crowd who find it a neat place to meet up with their friends and have a few drinks. A sign on the door also said there was free WiFi, which should also add to its appeal. I don't think we'll go back.
