Ramona: Dixie Belle meatloaf, fried okra, mashed potatoes, iced tea

Jim: Fish and chips basket, iced tea

We had some shopping to do for Thanksgiving, so we decided on a fast, light, dinner before
hitting the grocery story. That spells Cotton patch.

The food is always reliable, and they did have a new menu this visit, alas, still no turkey dinner.

We wanted to take my son out to dinner, so we let him pick. He choose CP, because he loves the chicken fried chicken. Our fish baskets were also excellent, although Ramona always laments that CP doesn't serve cole slaw. Patty was a good server; she never hovered, but kept us in iced tea and lemons. The fried 'shrooms were hot and delicious. The dessert was a good way to start off our 295th Saturday night together.

Jim: Chicken tenders basket, french fries, iced tea

Cotton Patch is one of our favorite places, and this visit allowed us to see their new menu. The prices did not seem to have been raised much, if at all, and there were some new additions. We were planning on a big dinner at home, so we had a light lunch with some close family members.

If nothing else, Cotton Patch is consistent, and we only wish they would add a roast turkey, with filling, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes. Then it would be perfect!

Jim: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli rice casserole, iced tea

Still a little tender from my dental surgery the day before, I opted for something different (I almost always get the Chicken fried Chicken). The meatloaf was tasty and tender. We both agreed it was a great meal. My son went with us, and had the most gigantic double meat, double cheese, bacon hamburger I have ever seen. He ruined it by putting ketchup AND mustard on it, but he swore it was delicious, and there was none left for either of us to taste.

Jim: Chicken fried chicken, broccoli rice casserole, carrots, iced tea

We can mail this one in every time. Cotton Patch has a limited menu, but everything is good. I absolutely love the chicken fried chicken. The slab, and I do mean slab of chicken is juicy and the breading is delicious. The dinner rolls are also great -- steamy and soft. Ramona always opts for corn cakes. We have this on-going debate about whether or not "corn bread" is really bread. I say no, it is too crumbly, like a dry cake. Today they gave us corn muffins, so debate resolved. I also claim blackeyed "peas" are not really peas, since they look like beans.

Jim: Chicken fried chicken, glazed carrots, broccoli rice casserole, iced tea

Shared: Appetizer of fried mushrooms with ranch and honey mustard dipping sauce

Another reliable meal, not so much rushed as usual, but quick service. One minor problem, Ramona ordered black-eyed peas, but she got squash casserole. We brought it to the server's attention, and she quickly brought out the correct side. She also kept our iced tea full.

We really like these chain restaurants, and Cotton Patch is one of our favorites. I love the CFC -- it is always juicy and large. I always get the same thing. Ramona switches around a lot.

There is, however, one major annoyance. The server brought our appetizer, and we hadn't even finished eating half of it when he brought our dinners. The place was not crowded on a Sunday night, and no one was waiting. Why do all these chains rush dinners so much? I can half understand when they are crowded with a lot of people waiting, but there was no need for it last night. Next time, I am resolved to say something!
