Driving through North Carolina on I-85, Ramona reminded me we were only a few miles from Shelby and the absolute best barbecue anywhere (sorry Texas!). The hush puppies are superb, and so are the beans and the barbecue slaw. The meat was tender and the sauce to die for. If you are EVER, within even 100 miles of Shelby, it is more than well worth the detour. You might even hang around this small town for a second meal later in the day.
